Hot Days- Cold Days-Wet Days- Polluted Days- Muggy days... Even In Our temperate climate your car's air conditioning system is one of the most important safety features! It helps keep you relaxed and alert on every journey - no matter what the weather is doing outside it keeps you cool when it's hot, warm when it's cold, de-humidifies the windows when it's wet and helps keep the air you breathe fresh and free from pollen and air borne pollution.

But, it can only do its job when it's looked after and, surprisingly enough, a health check and a regular maintenance are unlikely to be part of your cars regular servicing schedule.

Is your car sick?

Notice a slight smell when you turn the air conditioning on?

If you do, chances are that you've got 'sick car syndrome'! Because of the warm dampness mould and bacteria can quickly grow in the vents, ducts and pipe work, gases can leak, and that causes the problem. Harmful acids are also produced and so corrosion starts. This harms the system, makes it less effective and wastes fuel as well. Avoid major repair bills - and the smells - by having your system serviced regularly!

Following these simple tips to get the best from your system:

1. Run it regular. In fact, most systems are designed to be run all the time Winter and Summer. That way they get properly lubricated. You'll get the best out of the system and enjoy travel in just the temperature that suits you, no matter what's happening outside!

2. If you don't have air conditioning on all the time you should run it for at least ten minutes throughout the year. So it keeps it running efficiently.

3. Have it checked regularly. All Unipart Air Conditioning Specialists offer an air conditioning health check, that will quickly alert you to any problems.

4. Have it serviced regularly. An annual service is recommended. At least every two years or 24,000 miles is the maximum gap you should sensibly leave.
